Langauge is a structured system of communication, specifically referring to languages of Mankind. Language is often used as a way to differentiate between Mankind and other species, with non-humanoid races being separated from their animal equivalents primarily for their ability to use languages, and in turn, culture.

• New Common, also known as Newcommon, Neucommon, Common Tongue and just Common
  • The most widely spoken language on Surface. Is likely to be a mix between several languages, but many linguists trace its origin back to Gammeltunga. Official language in Ihazon, Sas, Thoiria, Radosis,Tekkea and Nozahi.
  • Real world counterpart: English
• Anus Radosicus, also known as just Radosicus
  • One of the oldest languages known. Official language of Radosis.
  • Real world counterpart: Latin
• Allgemein, also known as Old Common, Altcommon and Thoirian
  • Official language of Thoiria, predating New Common. It is still spoken in Ihazon and has influenced many naming conventions, but has gone down in popularity after 1961 as people distance themselves from Thoiria.
  • Real world counterpart: German
• Nordlandsk, also known as Nordic
  • An old language, predating New Common. Believed to be the native language of most of Ihazon; it has similarities with both Allgemein and Gammeltunga, and differs greatly between regions. The only country to have recognised it as an official language is Lettusland, but it is debated whether it should still remain one today as few still use the language.
  • Real world counterpart: Norwegian/Old Norwegian
• Gammeltunga, also known as Old Tongue
  • A very old language, possibly preceding our world's timeline. Is only spoken in Misthliþ, where it is the official language.
  • Real world counterpart: Old English
• Silvari
  • Possibly a breed between Anus Radosicus and Gammeltunga, it has become a language closely associated with glamour and fashion. Predominantly spoken and an official language in Regnum Silvam, it is also spoken to some degree in Capu Terram.
  • Real world counterpart: French
• Gekkōsasayaki, also known as Gekkousa and Tekkean
  • A language vastly different than most spoken languages, possibly stemming from Maaoshé. The official language of Tekkea, where it is spoken in equal measure with New Common, and both in Ignis Montis and Liberium Desertis, where it is spoken primarily by the elderly.
  • Real world counterpart: Japanese
• Maaoshé, also known as Cat Tongue
  • An ancient language with unknown origins, spoken by only a handful of people outside Shaan Xiin, where it is the official and only spoken language.
  • Real world counterpart: Chinese (Mandarin?)
• Deamonic, also known as Infernal
  • The official language of Nozahi and the predominantly spoken tongue of Deamons and Succubi, alongside Common Tongue.
  • Real world counterpart: Russian
• Abyssal
  • An ancient tongue that feels out of this world. Rarely, if ever, used outside of blood magic practices. Considered a sacred language in Nozahi.
