Porthown (/pɔːrtɑʊn/), nicknamed Harbour City, Pourthown and Port Town outside of Thoira, and referred to as Hafenstadt (Algm: Harbour City) within Thoiria, is an industrial port city at the very west end of Thoiria. Despite no longer being the main port of Thoiria, it still plays a vital role in Thoirazon shipping as the sole drydock as well as being the closest port to Hafenstadtöl's offshore rig.
The mascot of the city is a local polar bear name tagged Name Tagpour.
Economic cooperation with Lettusland
Porthown has a large motorway bridge to Lettusland, serving as the only land connection there. Because of this, the two nations have cooperated extensively and allowed open borders between themselves. Many Porters rely on work in Lettusland and vica versa. However, due to Thoiria not using a transaction system based on money, they have worked out other ways of allowing trade with Lettusland.
Porthown workers residing in Lettusland are given a wage determined by the relative gross product a Thoirian citizen would earn. Similarly, visitors who intend to bring goods out of Thoiria must pay a simulated price of the goods. All money in circulation in Porthown, including wages earned in Lettusland by Thoirian citizens, are handled by the City Council and used to fund import and foreign services.
It is to be noted that Hafenstadtöl, the only registered company in Thoiria, trades on the international market with Key. Revenue surplus is distributed evenly across all of Thoiria, despite the company being located in Porthown.
