Langenthal International Airport, otherwise known as LIX, is a major international airport in central Ihazon. It is the central airport of Langenthal and the only official international airport in Ihazon. In terms of runways, areal and passenger usage, it is the largest and busiest in the world.

History

Before any airport was built, the site of LIX has been used for local aircraft since the technology came to Ihazon. In early 2010s plans to construct an international airport were drafted. Despite there having been international travels between Ihazon and Thoiria regularly, up until this point the site was mostly consisting of simple gravel runways with no terminal of any sort.

The construction of LIX saw its completion in 2013. SV3 was built at the same time to serve as a fast and efficient route for passengers, and became the first motorway ring road in Langenthal. The airport saw great benefit of the increased road infrastructure and immediately experienced huge commercial and financial success.

In 2017, plans for a reconstruction were made as the airport already experienced its capacity being reached. In 2018 runways were completed to comply with modern standards. The terminal, despite being functional, is still much under construction. Completion of the new LIX is estimated to the end of 2018/beginning of 2019.

Security

LIX has received appraisal and scrutiny alike for its security. For most flights security is kept slack, but is very seriously enforced for Thoirazonan flights. Strict control is applied to ensure absolutely no illegal import of Thoirian goods or out-of-bounds export of Ihazonan wares. This is enforced methodically for both arrival and departure.

For added protection on-board the flight, passengers are encouraged to bring their own self-defence. They are notified that all cabin crew will be heavily armed. This has been well received especially by frequent international flyers. "Ye never know what those pesky Thoirians might be hidin' so ye better always be on yer guard," a local Settian has told The Daily Evening in a 2018 reportage of LIX's reconstruction.

In 2017 there were 17 accounts of lethal gunfire on-board, 100% of which were self-defence.
