International Women's Day
International Women's Day is a holiday taking place on 8th of March every year. It's primarily celebrated in the Thoirazon region.
The day is seen as a sort of "celebration" of women, and is often used to raise awareness of issues primarily concerning those of the female gender. However, many people, particularly men, have raised criticism at the lack of a subsequent Men's Day.
Despite common belief, this day is, not restricted to only women who travel frequently or otherwise globetrot ("international" women). The "international" refers to the fact that the day is acknowledged (=agreed upon to be "valid") in more than one than one country. If it was to be only acknowledged in a single country, it would instead be the National Women's Day. Makes sense? The "inter"-suffix (=something added before a word) actually means it refers to multiple nationalities, or nations.
Origin
The day's origin actually traces back to Beingchester, where it was first celebrated. One of the city's two founders, Women Chester, tragically died of Ligma the 8th of March, 775.
As a prominent figure in the town, her death was a heavy loss.
As the years passed, several nearby cities then started acknowledging the day as well; first Gotthem, then later Settmouth and Summerset. New Summerset did not acknowledge the day until 2015, as the city did not exist until then, but some have proclaimed that this was very lousy of the currently existing city.
