Gruvania is a city state in Ihazon. Originally founded because of the area's rich mineral deposits, it is now the largest primary industry contributor in Central Ihazon.
Reputation
Despite being very centrally located in Ihazon with close proximity to Langenthal, New Summerset and Tinville, Gruvania has never seen much popularity and is generally viewed upon as a poor and undesirable area. This is largely due to its economy almost solely consisting of agriculture and mining, neither of which are seen as lucrative nor pay well. Indeed, Gruvania has the lowest median household income in Ihazon.
The largest workplaces in Gruvania are provided by Rabbit Valley Mining's two mining facilities, one located in Miner Station and the other in Rabbit Valley, as well as Hoot'n'Toot Armament Manufacturing. Gruvania has many farms of varying sizes scattered about, but has less agricultural output than Summerset, the largest agricultural provider in Ihazon.
Racial issues
Gruvania has the largest concentration of dwarves, which many has linked to its primary industry focus and low wages as a racial bias. Official authorities deny this, yet many Gruvanian dwarves insist they are looked down upon and discriminated when looking for jobs in other cities.
In an early 2018 study about discrimination against Gruvanians, a local Gruvanian stated: "They just don't like us, the damn cityfolk! They think they're much better than us just 'cause we're small and poor, but I tell ya: they've not ever won in arm wrestling against a Gruvanian dwarf, I tell ya that alright!"
B. A. R. Farstadt's personal assistant, Bjørnår Björnsson, was also interviewed. "I was very lucky to be picked up by Mr. Farstadt as he is a brilliant man truly without prejudice. However, I know, it can get hard working with crazy people like that damned Magnus Stolt! He can feel as heavy as a Lesko Horling truck at times! Don't worry though, it's not an issue--it's made up for by the nice and competent employees here at Lesko who are all very friendly and hard-workin'. Oh look at the time, I gotta catch the Lesko Bus, it's soon time for me daily coffee from Lesko Fürkofi and me Lesko Uuge lunch! I might drop by Lesko Farsd on the way, too, anythin' ya fancy before ya need to catch yer Lesko Fli flight?"
Mr. Björnsson's opinion on the actual matter remains unknown.
