City of New Summerset is located in the middle of New Summerset. Normally, this area would be highlighted, but due to budget cuts in NS CoCAINE this was not possible

The City of New Summerset is a borough in the metropolis of New Summerset. It borders the boroughs of Nortsham, Eastern West Flecksington, East Eating, Eating, Park, St Borishire in the South, and St. Borishire in the North. The City of New Summerset is split into 2 parts, separated by Metal Man Park. The main borough serves as as the historic centre of New Summerset, while the Plaza serves as the actual centre of the city.

History

As the name suggests, the City of New Summerset used to contain the entire city of New Summerset. However, within less than a year of the city's founding, it had already grown exponentially to over four times the size of the original borough.

In 2016, a committee from the LGA voted in favour of distinguishing a clear landmark to serve as the definitive centre of the city. A square area was marked out in the north of Eating, directly bordering Park. A KDK store was knocked down to make space for the new square, which would be named "The Plaza".

Despite the borough now being dwarfed by the rest of the metropolis, the decision was made to retain the name "City of New Summerset", rather than renaming it, for historical reasons. This has caused confusion with some, as it is smallest of all the 12 boroughs in the city.

Controversy

The Geographical Board of New Summerset, part of the LGA, officially recognises the City of New Summerset as one borough, despite it being split into 2 parts. However, many people believe that since the parts do not directly border each other and are marked seperately on maps, that there are actually 2 boroughs both named City of New Summerset. Others believe that the City of New Summerset does not actually exist at all, and that the area where the boroughs are marked are simply just New Summerset (the metropolis).

Trivia

  • KDK have vowed never to trade in the City of New Summerset, as their first store in Eating was demolished to make space for "The Plaza" following the growth of the city.
    • For this reason, some residents, who do not recognise the City of New Summerset as an offical borough, believe that KDK no longer trade in New Summerset at all, and travel miles out of the city to Capitallettus just to get their Deep-fried Ducky Nuggs.
  • In 2016, Claire Less, a local Setter who openly preached about the non-existence of the City of New Summerset, died of stab wounds in her Eastern West Flecksington house. Pollis ruled out foul play, but many believe she was murdered due to her controversial opinions.
  • The City of New Summerset is often flocked with tourists who travel from far and wide to see the famous Lesko HQ skyscraper.
  • The City of New Summerset contains all 3 of New Summerset's roundabouts.
    • Some believe that the borough's border to St. Borishire in the North has been deliberately designed to go around the smallest roundabout in City of New Summerset, just so that the borough will have all the roundabouts in the city. Many residents of other districts (since there are no houses in St. Borishire in the North) have raised complaints about this, demanding it unfair for the borough to hold all the roundabouts in the city.
      • State officials have said "'tis a pure coincidence, we totally wasn't drunk at work promise", but critics have brushed this off, claiming the officials of NS CoCAINE were "high".
  • The roads around the City of New Summerset are notoriously poor and narrow. The roads have not been resurfaced in the borough since they were originally laid in 2015. It is unknown if this is due to lack of funding or lack of effort by NS CoCAINE.
  • The City of New Summerset is one of the only boroughs to be fully serviced by bus. However, the buses on this route have a reputation of arriving late and, if they do actually arrive at all, often get stuck around the sharp corners and narrow lanes of borough.
