Langenthal Steelworks is a large steel mill located in the Industrial District of Langenthal. It amasses the continent's entire steel production with ore shipped primarily from Gruvania Quarry, fuelling Langenthal's constant growth as well as the continuous construction of New Summerset.

Production

The Steel mill receives ore from Gruvania Quarry by train, which is then processed in the mill. Industrial steel is then transported out by train and trucks to be used in construction or manufacturing. Due to the rarity of steel producers on Surface, a large amount of steel is also exported. The largest importer is Thoiria, trading steel for a far more valuable good; oil.

Staff changes

In September 2018, the previous Head of Production, Gunnar Gunmetal, tragically died in a car accident in Downtown Langenthal. Mr Gunmetal had earlier that year requested a position at Hoot'n'Toot Armament Manufacturing. Unfortunately, he never succeeded in the repositioning before passing away.

History

After the arrival of Togfan in 1903, the industrial revolution started in Ihazon. This required a lot of resources and capital, but also allowed for the production of advanced goods as well. The first steel mill, Langenthal Steelworks, was constructed in 1916, and has been the primary national steel provider. Due to various factors, steel was still imported from Tekkea, who for a long time offered far cheaper and better steel in larger quanta. Langenthal Steelworks has as a result continuously scaled up their production. In September 2016 they were acquired by Ampersand Corporation, and production was noticeably effectivized.

Critique

The steel mill has been accused for heavy exploitation of labour and abuse of the employees. Reports state that workers are barely paid, are not given vacations, and have their work times when they fill 30 extended from 12 to 36 hours a day. Some have quit their job at the mill, and coincidentally suffered tragic losses of family members.

Despite these acquisitions becoming more frequent around 2017, they have ceased entirely in late 2018. As of now, the steel mill is rated one of the best work places in Ihazon.
